Delay Pedals

Alright, I'm looking for a reliable, flexible delay pedal that won't make my signal cold or sterile. If there's one that you know of that fits this description, and has the capability to repeat what you're playing over and over again, it'd be great to hear about it. If not though,, it's all good. Any input you guys have would be greatly appretiated. Thanks.

+1..i love my line6, and you have the option to run it in true bypass or not- i leave it in the 'not' mode so the delays trail off when i shut it off. the pedal is worth it for the looping alone, but is a great sounding delay.

I agree. I know that this is huge news to Mincer...lol

Three presets, tap tempo, the ability to model the tone of 15 different types of delay. I dig it for the three presets. Nothing complicated, just preset three delay types that you like and they're easy to access. You also have a tap-tempo so that you can set the time of the repeats by tapping it a couple of times. It sounds great, too. I bought mine on eBay and I paid $150, if memory serves me correctly.

You may want to look at an analog delay pedal as opposed to the digital ones referenced above. I'm not knocking digital, I have a DD6 myself... but there's no denying the warmth of an analog delay. They're usually not as flexible, but if the tone of the delayed signal is more imporant than features then I'd go analog. If you'd rather have the features (tap tempo, reverse effects, etc) then I'd go digital.

Ibanez DE-7. It's got a "Delay" setting that works like a digital delay and then an "echo" setting that does a pretty good simulation of an analog delay. On the lower settings it can sounds like a reverb and with 30 to 2.6 secs of delay time it can cover a pretty wide range. The cool part is that among the different settings (say, I think it's the 120-450 switch) a little change in the knobs is a world of difference in terms of delay. Because of the wide sweep of the knobs, echo and delay settings, and up to 2.6 secs of delay time you get a ton of differant sounds for fairly cheap ($70).

i've owned the dd-3, rv-3 and danelectro.. the dan-echo has the same max delay as the RV-3 (much more than the dd-3), and has a hi-cut control.. good little pedal!

Try a Rocktron Short-Timer. It's a simple, stripped down delay; digital, but designed to sound old-school like analog or tape.

It seems like it's pretty well put-together, and dirt cheap (~$50 new). I got mine used off eBAy for $25, personally delivered to me by the seller, who just happened to live in my town.

For this price, you need to try one. It does what it does, but if that's enough for you, it's a huge bargain.
