Delay?!

Line 6 DM4?
Line 6 Echopark?
Boss DD-6?
Danelectro Reel Echo?

What to get, any suggestions please.
I've been using the DD6 for quite some time, but i borrowed a friends Echopark and the "analog" setting blew me away, just was so full and warm. compared to the digital delays.

I'd love to get my hands on a mooger fooger, or a TC elec, but they are just WAY too expensive for my wallet.
any suggestions?
any pedals welcome. Just in terms of price no more than US$250.
but yes, please comment. would love to hear.

Re: Delay?!

Boss DD-3 is the best digital delay. The Maxon AD-9 is also a good analog delay but takes you over your price unless you find a used one. This is how it went for me. Started with the DD3, got a DD5, got a Maxon AD9, and now back with the DD3.:smokin:

Re: Delay?!

I wanna move out of the boss. I compared it to the echopark and it just didnt seem to be as warm or full. Will check out the Maxon though.

Re: Delay?!

do yerself a favor and see if you can find an ibanez dl-10. it's digital, but it sounds very analog, and they tend to go for cheap -- it's a sleeper pedal -- i was in the same boat you are and i bought one on the strength of the reviews at harmony central, which i initially checked out because i saw a dl-10 on ebay and hadn't heard of it before, and the price was right -- and i was not disappointed. :smokin:

Re: Delay?!

sorry, the line6 dl4 is the king of small delays, capable of cloning a huge variety of pedals.

Re: Delay?!

Boss DD-20. Similar in concept to the Line 6, but the footswitches don't break after limited use.

Re: Delay?!

There is a time and place for both Digital and Analog - everyone should have one of both: A DD-3 and a AD-9 should cover it all nicely!

I hate Line 6 with a passion. I can't stand their amps or effects. They sound too cheap. Me, I run a Boss ME-50 multieffects: it has all the delays in the world and they all sound much better. Either that or get an analog delay pedal: it might sound better. BTW, the ME-50 isn't analog, sadly....

You honestly think the ME-50 is better than Line6 effects? Wow, okay ... to each his own I guess.

I think it was mainly their amps that turned me off. Amps that do good at everything but excell at nothing. Their models sounded accurate in a not-as-good-as-my-ears recording, but not perfect. But I hate amp modelling, so maybe that was the reason why.

Re: Delay?!

? have you ever worked with their delays or their modulation modeler? Very cool stuff there.

Re: Delay?!

Try the Rocktron short timer it is excelent for short delays and is built like a tank.

*lol* I replaced my ME-50 with a Line6 because the Boss sounded to cheap. Crazy guitar-world.

I've been using one for just over a year now. These are the most fantastic delay pedals you can get for around $200. Boss reliability and durability, of course, and EXCELLENT sound. My ears prefer it over the Lind 6 DL4. The control layout isn't as easy to navigate, though. That's where the L6 has the advantage. But if you're willing to learn and tweak a little bit the DD20 Gigadelay can be quite addictive.
