OK I have been looking at these for quite some time. The other guitar player I play with bought one of the Reissues on my recommendation. I personally feel this is one sweet little Amp.
At The Long Island Guitar show I found a 1967 that was "priced right" So I bought it. It has a 12" Emmenince speaker (not original). and has been recapped by the previous owner. All in All its a very clean sounding and looking Amp.
I have now had a few days to work with it and I gotta say this Amp Kicks some serious Butt. It has one Minor Mod to it. The guy who I bought it from is a Jazz player, and he felt he needed a little more gain out of it. What he did is replace the Vibrito pot with a on/off type pot. He wired the tube for the Vibrato into the power section or the Preamp section( I can't remember). Which ever it is it adds just a very small amount of gain/volume when turned on. It does make a difference..... not a lot, but on a few pieces it worked really well.
At rehearsal the other night I used my Clapton Strat and an old Boss Super OD just to give it a little Clean boost. The Amp smoked. I was real pleased with the way it worked out. I have had some time to play my 335, and my SG as well as my LP thru this as well, and quite frankly everything sounded exceptional tru this little killer! 22 Watts can be soooooooo Loud :laugh2:
The Amp I was using prior to this was a Carvin X60. Sort of a 50 caliber clone. This Amp worked well, but not even as close to this. ( I should point out that I also own a 1968 Super Reverb, and a Marshall 900 50W combo. I don't usually use these at rehearsals We don't play loud at rehearsals)
As much as I love the RI Deluxe....... It just can't compete with this thing! Woah................... I'm getting chills just thinking about gettin' home and playing thru it :laugh2: One of the Amps I have been looking for is now mine.
