I haven't seen an american fender deluxe hss guitar with a locking nut. Some come with roller nuts.

Got a picture of it you can post?

Re: Deluxe Staggered Cast/Sealed Locking nut

I believe you are speaking of the wheels on back of your locking tuners

the wheels push a small rod up through the string hole in your tuners
to "Lock" the string in place before adjusting the string

with these string changes are much easier

just pull the string taunt thru the hole

tighten the locking wheel and tune to pitch

no more wrapping a half dozen winds on the post

Re: Deluxe Staggered Cast/Sealed Locking nut

These types are the best I have ever had,
I have on my J.Beck (satin finish for some reason), bought a set from Schaller (Best Choice IMHO) chrome, do not buy "Fender Brand" as they lock fine, but don't stagger very well, in my case it was 3 tall, 3 short which would have been ok except the high E and B were not staggered enough. Barely got by without a string tree. So go Schaller after market.
****Look out- these locking tuners allow for extra string to show or even left a little long so if you want to change something you STILL HAVE SLACK to reuse the strings, to pull them through again. THIS IS A GOOD THING!!! There is a type of locking tuners, I think Sperzels is the name, this other type cuts the string INTERNALLY so that you have NO SLACK. so if you want to re-use your strings after fixing something in your pickgaurd YOU HAVE NO SLACK AND MUST BUY NEW STRINGS.************ O.K. Just sayin'. This happenned to a guy I know, someone put these on after market and did not know how to use them and so my buddy ended up with a good used strat but I had to cut everything off (about an ounce of guitar wire all over the place as the previous owner couldn't figure out how they worked and tried to make them work like normal tuners) and we went back and got some Scallers. It's his fave guitar now.
