Anyone ever tried one in a Mahogany body with a mapletop and maple neck.... if so how does it sound?... thanks in advanced Rick

I have a JB that reads 17k with an Alnico 2 magnet in a mahogany-bodied, maple-necked Strat - that's awfully close to what you're asking about. Definitely works well there. nice upper mids, bright but no icepick. amazing midrange complexity and harmonics. bass is less boomy than a regular A5 JB but it's not exceptionally strong (stronger than a Custom Custom though). the Martini is I think 17.5k and there is the hand-wound factor . . . if anything it should sound a little sweeter than a regular JB with an A2 like mine. I think you'd be pretty happy with the Custom Shop pup.
