Basically my sound is somewhat Modern Vintage.

My distorted/gain sounds come from the 5E3 Deluxe, BF Deluxe, Dumble ODS and JCM800 patches from the Line 6

My clean sounds I tend to use the Vox AC30 and BF Deluxe with light delay and reverb


Basically once I start working I'll move towards tube land finally ... I'll probably go with a Mission Amps 5E3 kit and a GDS 18w Marshall clone that'll be sent off to have the clean channel sound more like a Matchless.

My top 2 dream tones come from the Orange Custom Shop Retro 50 for the Dirty, and a Matchless Chieftan for clean sounds

I would have to say that i know what i want but i dont know how to get it... and to tell you the thruth i haven´t found it, maybe some of you are in my situation, i do have a tube amp which i dont use very often as i would like too but thats going to change from today ... i tell ya !!!
my sound right now would like Ed Van Halen said one day :"its like cardboard or concrete, really solid and cold and sometimes very thin" and i would like to add its like crap....

im trying not to sound to mainstreemish but its got metal power, hot tone while still maintaining clarity like evh, and kind of a thick creamy sound for solos with satch type effects.

For clean rythm I go for The Edge's tone on the old stuff, sparkley with lots of delay, but I add some tremolo on the slower stuff.
For dirty rythm I go for a cross between Malcom Young, Mike Ness, and Rivers Cuomo. Something tough and tight with big low mids, and some bite, but definitely, not super high gain.
For leads I try for some sort of a combination of Slash and Santana, really smooth high gain. I can't stand any harsh higher frequencies, so I tend to use mainly a neck pickup for lead parts, except if I'm playing low on the wound strings. For cleaner leads on my strat, then I'll try for SRV's tone, especially when he used just a little tubescreamer for some sustain.

VH tone on crack, but more articulate and not as thick and thunky. More biting and cutting too.

Kind of like a cross between Carcass's Heartwork tone, and old Megadeth/Metallica tones, but without Hetfield-mids (or lack thereof).

For lead tones, I prefer a smooth yet still cutting/biting tone, sort of Vai-ish.

Gigging/practice volumes, the tubes are goin crazy, it's bright and crunchy with enough bass to sound mean, i have to turn down the volume on my guitar to like 4 to get a clean sound...you all know what a silverface Bassman sounds like...

My white Strat sounds a lot like Weezer and Nirvana, my black one sounds like the Beatles, Leftover Crack and Converge, and my BC Rich sounds like crap. Works for me.

I like a thick, fat, buttery, saturated tone be it clean or dirty.
My main influences are George Harrison, Eric Clapton, & Joe Perry, so if you can mix them all up, that's kind of where I'm at.

If you listen to The Refreshments, the tone Brian Blush gets is what I love & try to get. I mix my Blue Angel into the Splawn to get a good blend of dirty clean.

And the Duncan P90s kick serious a$$ either clean or dirty!!!! :32:
