You certainly have your priorities straight. Changing speakers and cabinets will have the most dramatic change on your overall tone, far more than tubes, pickups and even amps heads! Anyone serious about fine-tuning their sound and looking for a more distinct tone should look into speakers before anything else.

I was actually surprised at how much of a difference mic's make as well.. I mean I know positioning can change things pretty drastically, but even just switching microphone's ...bigger difference than I thought...

Of course, they’re essentially speakers in reverse.

Well.here's another with the Randall T2 & Sennheiser

I've had enough of the balladry for now.. :D

A bit sloppy as the fingers limber up again.... :laugh2:

..and with the Orange Super Crush 100 ,,mic'd with a Chinese BM800. Amazing what a great sounding condenser it is for $15

Laney-IRT-Cab-Pulse.jpg

^^ It's (Pulse PM12S) another one w/ a huge magnet (see it compared to the stock Laney HH speaker). It does have the strong upper-mids/harmonics like a V30 but way smoother/less spiky (and you don't have to wait 40 years for it to get that way) :lmao:

I have an IRT112 and use it with a Marshall Class 5 head. The stock Laney speaker is great; very easy to dial in an early Zeppelin tone.

I like mine. It's a nice solid cab & the HH's certainly more than get the job done. It's just that I've got a Laney 4x12 with them in there already and I wanted something different for my 2x12. When I heard about the Pulse speakers I thought I'd give them a try &they turned out to be insanely good, way beyond my expectations.. not just for the price either. :bigthumb:

I really do vastly prefer them over the newer Celestion V30's ..they have nicer (to my ear) mids with an awesome glassy/vowelly sound, no hint of fizz/harshness & are tight/punchy with a hint of roundness to them (like an old , well used vintage 30)...all in all they sound like an old well used vintage 30...and cost $40 each...

I also have a pair of WGS ET65's that I was initially thinkingg of putting in the Laney Cab...but after the Pulses's went in, I could'nt dream of taking them out for anything :D

Your lead tone is great, but I'd love to hear some chuggz! :D

Thanks! The lockdown and the long extended break from my band stuff/gigging has made my rhythm playing (chuggz or otherwise) sloppy as hell and franklyI'm embarrassed to post it up anywhere :p. I keep thinking I need to start working on it & get things up to speed again ..but eh, I just end up widdling some more :lmao:

Here's the same thing with my cheap MDF Laney 4x12 (HH driver's) mic'd w/ the BM800 & the same EQ on the amp..

They're actually pretty cool speaker's....I like this cab as it is :bigthumb:

Laboga The Beast 30 Plus head + Laney 4x12 w/ HH Driver's + Zooom G1x Four (delay + reverb) in the loop + BM800 cheap Chinese condenser mic ~ Shred/Metal 666 \m/

And I just created my third "Wall Of Abymal Doom" :D

...cleared out the corner below which had a bunch of junk piled up on an old chair & now have my Laney 4x12, Laboga The Beast 30 Plus Head & AMT Stonehead there instead :bigthumb:

Oh the last 3 video's were all with my Charvel Tradional Pro . I still need to swap the cruddy 1 1/2 year-old strings out for some new ones, hope I get around to that sometime soon :p Still, shitty old strings or not, it's one of my most reached for guitars!

And another w/ the Laney 4x12/BM800 mic & my awesome AMT Stonehead (delay/reverb from my Zoom G1X Four) :bigthumb:

..and with the AMT Stonehead's 2nd Lead Channel...cuz it's quite different (more piercing/glassy/80's sounding).

Actually, Lead one (the other lead channel in the last video) has a "voicing" knob to go from darker/more open to brighter/tighter more compresed..so you can either dial in both channel's to sound pretty similar or completely different..there's also presence/resonance knobs & a push-button switch on each lead channel that switches between a sharper/more attacking top end and warmer/rounder (more metal/more bluesy kinda..).

AMT makes some brilliant stuff, love this amp to death.. but you don't hear much about them these days..:(

On a side note, I've been having this weird experience with Reaper (DAW). In that, when I mix my solo into the backing track and set the right level for it (so it sit's in the mix at the level that I want it to) & then render/export my mixed file (backingtrack w/ solo) ...the exported file has the solo shoot up in volume outside of Reaper (it's ridiculously loud like 10X as loud as it sounded in Reaper.) Anyone have any idea's on what could be going on? It only started a few days ago after I installed my last Reaper update. It's obviously making mixing pretty difficult cuz I have to mix the solo in at a volume I can't even hear in Reaper in order for it to sound like it does in my video's.

Short old school death metal rhythm clip with the Orange Super Crush 100 & Peavey 6505 4x12, mic'd with my Sennheiser e906 dynamic. Single track - No FX/processing..

Certainly has the balls for OSDM :bigthumb:

And the shred metal tune w/ the same amp settings/mic/mic placement..cuz I've lost track of whether I did this one with the Sennheiser before..or just the BM800 :D

Amp Settings (both clips):

Volume : 1
Channel Volume : Dimed
Treble: 4.5
Mids: 6
Bass: 6
Gain : 6.5
Reverb: Off
