I was given an old Peavey amp today. The original speaker is pretty much destroyed, and rated at 4ohms. I'd like to try it out, but the speaker in my other amp has no rating listed on it. Any way I can figure it out?
If you have a multi meter measure the DC resistance. It should read a bit lower than the actual speaker impedence. An 8 ohm unit would read about 6.... a 4 about 3 .....a 16 about 14.
Sweet, thanks! The whole reason I didn't try that in the first place is that I knew that the rating wasn't equivelant to it's measured resistance, coz of the whole AC/DC thing....
