Darkness on the edge of Tone
Following up on my DI thread a few days ago, I just finished tracking the solos for the first song.
These are raw tracks, unbalanced, DI with Logic Pro X modeling on them, not the final reamp guitar tracks.
Took about 3 hours to write and record all of the leads.
DankStar asked if it was harder to track solos DI than live through a mic'd amp ... we both reckoned it is, and I still agree, but it's definitely possible to get good solos this way, just takes a bit more digging in.
Pls forgive the rough and ready nature of the tracks as well as the jump cuts; these are taken from several spots over a very long song. The first bit is an 80s LA metal riff I wanted to put a melodic, Lynch-like solo over. Second bit is part of the 70s funk rock section. Third bit is improvised madness.
