Did I pay too much for this guitar?

First I'd like to say hi since I'm new to this forum. You can call me Harris (that's how my username is pronounced).

Well, I recently got a BC Rich guitar that is made in China and I'm not sure if it's worth the price or not (yep, I searched the internets and I found out that there's a lot of negative feedback on chinese made guitars :disappoin ). Then again most of the opinions I've read are unconstructive comments that don't really go in depth and come from people who will only buy a usa/japan made guitar because ... I don't know:lol:. Like, they say that if it's not made in usa or japan then it's trash. But I do have a couple of Indonesian made guitars and they're great for the price I got them.

Anyway, here's what the guitar has :

nato body , quilted maple top , maple neck , maple
fingerboard , 24 jumbo frets , 2 duncan designed pups, tune o matic bridge.

It is a cheaper version of some signature model, its name is BC Rich ASM Zoltan Siganture 2.

Its price is 300 euros (or 340 dollars).

I've been playing it since yesterday and it sounds good both in clean and dirty. I compared it to my Cort VX 2V (which has emg hz pups) and I noticed that the seymour duncans are louder on low frequences and have a kind of 'sweeter' sound ( I don't know how else to explain it :P) when in clean channel.

I would also agree if you said that it depends on the player. I'd prefer to listen to a good player with a 150$ guitar than a sloppy one that owns a 1k dollar one. What I wanna know is - can I get something better for the same price? I've been using another forum for a while but the replies are totally unrelated to what I post, so please don't recommend me some Ibanez RGIR20FE or Jackson SLATTXMGQ.

Thank you for your time.

Yes i bet if you looked around you might be able to find a used German made Shadow guitar for that price.

Still if you like it then who cares what i think.

Re: Did I pay too much for this guitar?

I still got 29 days to send it back and get my money back. By the way, it looks like they removed the page of the product. I want to see the pictures again because I think the headstock had missing info in the pictures. Can I sue them for that? I asked for pictures and waiting :3

Για σου φίλε, απόλαυσε την κιθάρα σου, δεν έχει πρόβλημα.

I find the anti-China frenzy totally amusing.

Where did you buy it from?

Re: Did I pay too much for this guitar?

Where did you buy it from?

Ι got it from Thomann.de . The guitar was supposed to be 45% off and I ordered it instantly. Then it came, and I was skeptical. There's a small crack on the body and some yellow stain on the neck. It could be chinese piss.

I find the anti-China frenzy totally amusing.

Me too, but not 100% of chinese guitars are worth it. I found some positive feedback on this website by googling and ended up in this thread https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?201432-Made-in-China-Guitars . So I decided to hop in and get some more opinions on this.

Threads like this piss me off.

Do you like the guitar more than you like your money? Then keep it.

Are you dissatisfied with the guitar? Then get your money back.

You're not going to get anything special for $300, but whether or not you like the guitar is completely a matter of your opinion. There is literally nothing a forum can do to help you.

"I just ordered a pizza. Should i have gotten different toppings?"

Can you post pictures of the crack and the stain? Dont mess with it, take it apart or anything that will void your warranty with thomann. Its possible you got a bad one. All factories have duds that slip out but with thomann you can return it as long as you dont take it apart and scratch it.

So do the forum moderators.

I, on the other hand, find it amusing that the negative comments and speculation posted earlier in this thread have gone unpunished.

Finally, to the OP, I say, welcome to the forum.

I don't understand your attitude. As I mentioned I want some opinions, I'm not here to bash Chinese guitars. If I'm not allowed to discuss about guitars here then I'm sorry. I was just wondering why most people stay away from them.

Sure, I'll take some pics and post them.

Re: Did I pay too much for this guitar?

Sorry to come off as harsh or negative, but a guitar is a guitar. Opinions from strangers on the internet won't help you decide if you like it any more than opinions about food will help you find your favorite meal.

In the USA we have a saying... "Opinions are like a-holes. Everybody has one and they all stink." Picking a guitar is a personal choice. You're going to get anti-Chinese racism in threads like this, you're going to get Captain America saying only his favorite brand of guitar is worth owning, and you're going to get every Tom, Dick and Harry in between them. It's not going to get you any closer to deciding if you like your guitar or not.

So is it safe to say that there is fanboyism going on when it comes to where the guitar was made? If that's the case then I might rethink of it, but still the crack and the stain is unacceptable for me. And I'm not saying this because it's made in China but for the website I ordered it from. Normally if there's something wrong with the instrument they should check it and fix it or send it back. This actually makes me get the bus and go to a guitar shop at a town nearby. It's better to test a guitar first and then buy. I'm being skeptical about ordering another guitar online.

There are several issues going on in this thread. Aside from your opening post question and the futility of asking about purchasing decisions after one has parted with one's money, there are several ongoing historical disagreements floating about. (I shall not bore you with details of these.)

Midday Central European Time is approximately breakfast time for the US East Coast moderators. By now, the words China and kramersteen should have flagged up and alarms will be sounding.

Crack in the paint around the neck pocket already and a glue stain under the nut. Theres two reasons that come to mind.

I would actually like to read some details because I don't seem to understand what you're talking about. I mean it's not like I'll force you to answer my questions (even though it's kinda rude being off topic in a help thread) but tell me what's so wrong about my thread. Are you a mod by the way, or are you backseat moderating? Or do you build chinese guitars? You aroused my curiosity.

There's actually a small piece of wood missing there too so I guess it's not superficial.

The historical disagreements have been festering away on the pages of this website for years. They are freely available to anyone who registers.

That remark was not intended for you.

This may have already happened before I posted.

Certainly not. (Though, I might be a rocker.)

I think not.

Χάρης;3867158 said:

I have had to rebuild a few over the years. Mainly Squier and Ibanez.

The full story is a long and torturous one. It could waste over a year of your life.

Re: Did I pay too much for this guitar?

You, sir, have not offended me in the slightest.
