what the ****!

whenever ive played a jackson guitar (ive played at least 5 or so diferent ones, including a bass) they felt and looked like they had the friggin tiniest necks ever with tiny scale and tiny width.

but i was just checking the jackson website and all the guitars seem to have to same neck dimensions as a strat, 25.5 inch scale, 43mm neck width at the nut.

whats goign on?? did jackson change the size of the necks on all their guitars??

if they did, thats awsome, i always thought jackson guitars sounded really ****in metal, but felt like crap, so i never wanted one

Re: Did jackson go n change the size of all their necs??

25.5, 1 11/16" nut, 12-16 radius, .790 - .850 Its been that way for as long as I know on the USA soloist and RR-1 models. Most people actually consider the soloist necks as pretty wide in terms of the fretboard. The kelly and dinky's have a smaller neck something like .750 - .810 for the DK1's and .775 - .825 for the kelly's or something along that line I forget exactly. The import dinky's are wayy to thin for me at .735-.810.

What models did you play?

i love my imported older Dinkies with the thin necks.. but really i prefer the thicker ones that come on some USA models...

On a side note, does any new Jacksons have a neck shape simular to my 1987 Charvel model 1? It is a nice thick wide neck... I guess the new Charvels should have that shape, but do any Jacksons...?

I have a pair of Japanese Dinkys (DK2S's), their necks seem to be the same size as the American version. A little fat and very wide, it was an adjustment from my other guitars, but they play nice and sound great. That the neck size I always remember Jackson having.

Do you know the specs on the model 1 neck?

not sure but it is pretty beefy... nice and fat and wide...

Since Charvel became Charvel again there's been a few neck variations they've used. I havn't played a model 1 in a long time so without having one in front of me it's tough to compare.

Alvin thanks for that, thats a great resource page. Unfortunately it doesn't tell much in regards to dimensions that I can see.

Re: Did jackson go n change the size of all their necs??

i havent ever played a guitar that beats a USA jackson neck.
they own.

Re: Did jackson go n change the size of all their necs??

Jackson neck specs have varied a bit over the years. Additionally, the USA necks are all hand finished, so they all feel slightly different anyway.

But the 1 11/16" nut width and 25 1/2" scale have been more or less standard since the beginning.
