I'm looking for a good set of headphones for monitoring, Please tell me which are the good models.

I need it for transcribing stuff and since i don't have any heaphones i figure monitoring headphones would be better for that function right ?

(and also will be good i guess when i start recording stuff, once i get all my gear, this is the first step)

Senheisers have always been good to me.

what about the audio technica ATH-500 ? some guy here is selling it for like 70$ and people told me it's a steal.

Also, some store is selling the beyerdyamic DT990 for 200$~

guess there's no better alternative than to try them all, which i'll only be able to do next month (hopefully starting a new job next week and gotta show some dedication)

I have the HD280's and I am very happy with them. If you want recording headphones that isolate, they are very nice. Don't mix with headphones, though, use monitors.

I've used the standard DT-770's and they are very good sounding iso cans. They have a very natural frequency response, but they come new with a bit of a low mid/bass hump, which slowly lessens over time with burn in. If these DT-770 M's are a more isolating version of the standard 770's, I'd say they would be a great pair of cans. The standard 770's isolate fairly well.

Mmmm, I'm considering making a purchase pretty soon. The Sony MDR V700's I'm usin right now just aren't cuttin it. These are runnin at the top of my list.
