it's really not that easy to screw up a tuner install.
few things to remember though:
a) make sure you get the right tuners for your neck - measure the width and depth of the holes to compare mounting specs for the tuners you're looking around at.
b) Tuner mounting screws usually are pretty narrow, so there's little point in drilling a pilot hole, but when you do drill mounting holes, make sure you are using the right drill bit, and make sure you are drilling down to a depth that will be able to take the whole screw without much fighting.
c) lube up the screws with a little beeswax or candle wax prior to mounting. If they still get tight/stuck in the holes, take em out, and maybe re-drill the hole very carefully and try again. There is nothing worse than installing a new set of tuners and accidentally stripping out the philips head of a tiny screw that you don't have any more of, just because the mounting hole was too short or the screw wasn't waxed enough.
