Diezel vs Splawn

Re: Diezel vs Splawn

Never tried a Diezel (Been wanting to, but there aren't any dealers around where I live).

That being said, one of the best amps I ever played was a Splawn Quick Rod, that was originally owned by Troy Seele from the current line-up of Iced Earth. If I would've had 1200 to blow at the time, I would've walked away with that puppy.

I don't understand why people keep saying that the Mark Series Mesas have a "scooped" tone. I guess maybe the feel like they "have" to run the EQ in the traditional V-shape. If you want FAT mid-range, all you have to do is bring up that center slider. That 750Hz slider is a really powerful tone shaping tool.

Am I the only one here that has experimented with a graphic EQ?

I have the Mark V myself, and the last thing I would EVER categorize it as is "Scooped". That thing has some very powerful mids, but in a good way, and you can dial them out with the 5-band EQ for those who want the scoopage, but I like my mids, so it's perfect.

The reason I said that in this instance is because a Mark amp with the 5 band doing the smiley thing is hard to beat if you're going for a scooped out tone, and I assumed that the OP was waiting that in the second head. And yes I know that the Mark V has plenty of mids, but it isn't quite the same as a souped up Marshall
