Difference between Nickel and Chrome Covers?!!

What is the difference in sound? In look? They actually look the same to me? What do Gibson and Fender use? Thanks!!

To be honest, I don't know if nickel and chrome have any negligible tonal differences. I do know that nickel ages very nicely; where as chrome tends to flake.

I don't think there's any diff at all in sound between a gold cover, nickel cover or chrome cover. The plating is super thin...
