Difference between Strat and Charvel strat bodies?

tone?

So what is the difference between a normal 60's lets say strat body shape and the Charvel strat shaped bodies??

I could never tell the difference. Is the Charvel slightly bigger, choppier?

I know the neck pockets are slightly different. Charvel has a larger heal.

Charvels do have a slightly larger neck pocket, and the edge radius on the bodies is slightly different, IIRC....

I am sure Mike (XSSIVE) will come along in a minute with all the details, but for the most part, they have the same over all size.

Re: Difference between Strat and Charvel strat bodies?

I have both. Charvels have a larger neck pocket- 2 1/4" as compared to 2 3/16 on a Fender.

Charvels are rear routed with a triangular control cavity. Strats are top routed.

The edge radius on a Charvel is smaller- creating a slightly less contoured edge all around, which gives the appearance of the body being bulkier

Re: Difference between Strat and Charvel strat bodies?

i always felt the shape of my 87 Charvel Model 1's body is slightly different then Fenders strat shape...

I have a Musikraft Charvel clone body hanging side by side with my Fender Clapton strat. You can clearly see that the Fender is more heavily contoured.
