differences between American Standard and Deluxe Telecaster?

All this talk about Telecasters has got me wanting one to add to the herd.....but a quick glance at the models has me confused as to the differences between them. Second question would be are they routed for H-H under the pickguard if I couldn't find a single-coil sized pickup I like?

Re: differences between American Standard and Deluxe Telecaster?

the deluxes have the new fender noiseless N3 pickups and the S1 switch that throws in some additional pickup combinations. The telecaster also features a body contour on the back..
compound radius fretboard and staggered locking tuners as well.

The American standards are just the regular alnico pickups with normal switching, 9.5" radiuses, and staggered non-locking tuners

I think both deluxe and Am teles have a 3 pup route, which is Tele bridge, singlecoil mid, humbucker neck. For a bridge hummer you would need a new bridgeplate anyhow so its not really drop-in (not that the neck pup would be drop in either, but there would be no need for a full setup to change that one).

Tele's are pretty beefy....at least more-so than strats. You can get some nice single sized replacements - its fair to say that the majority of (no make that ALL) stock Fender pups I've had I've yanked out pretty quick smart too.
