I love both pickups in a les paul. BUT: the JB works only in ONE Of my 25 les pauls. the '59 works practically every time. The JB is smoother,less gritty, less scooped than the '59. in terms of output, sure, the JB is hotter, but just a bit really. In my opinion the custom5 is a bit fatter, a bit more scooped and more compressed. I like the '59; I don't like the custom 5. I like the hybrid, though
