I love both pickups in a les paul. BUT: the JB works only in ONE Of my 25 les pauls. the '59 works practically every time. The JB is smoother,less gritty, less scooped than the '59. in terms of output, sure, the JB is hotter, but just a bit really. In my opinion the custom5 is a bit fatter, a bit more scooped and more compressed. I like the '59; I don't like the custom 5. I like the hybrid, though

sdpickups.com has a humbucker set jake e. lee endorses called the rocker set,they sound great.He playes a song called bacon in a sound clip using the pickups in a 96 sg.deansweden you should check them out.

I inquired about these when they were brand new a few years back.
Turns out Jake doesn't endorse them at all
and for what it's worth, he used a POD to record.

I was in love with 59's till i heard the 36th bridge:eyecrazy:
that type of singing, scream but with more body to the tone and harmonics unlike typical PAF's

not really. he's been doing a few gigs in Vegas bars w/ 3 Day Crush.
The drummer said he was a member, but he apparently wasn't.

and whaddya' know, there's Jake ... SOLOING :banana::notworthy

... and there's been rumours about a 2012 release with Jake as well,
but these are just rumours.

oh yeah, he's listed as lead-guitarist for the 2010 Enuff Z'Nuff release as well

Jake E Lee of Ozzy Osbourne helped me design this humbucker set, which he endorses (thanks Jake!). This is an older set, NOT a PAF set, but one that gets great response from rock players. Here he is playing a Procol Harum tune "Bacon" on a '96 SG:

I think dave from sd pickups told me dimarzio paf's had more power,mids and less highs compared to duncan paf's.Because seymour had vintage paf's that were under wound more like what he makes now and larry had over wound vintage paf's like his 36 aniversary set without air whatever.Also those vintage set's could have a3 magnets like the pickups in eric claptons gibson les paul reissue.

Jake looked like what EVH should have looked like the first few tours when VH was a bit heavier sounding! black/white charvel,all black stage clothes,seriously stripe that charvel in this pic! LOL!

Yep, I'm pretty sure that guitar started life as a sunburst hardtail Fender Strat w/large headstock.

yeah its a fender strat reworked by jakes bud who worked at charvel.
