Different types of hotrails?

Was hoping someone could clear something up for me.

I've been using a hotrail in the neck for awhile now and am a huge fan of it. But i recently got another hotrail off ebay that looks completely different. The one I have been using has a more traditional humbucker look, whereas the new one seems to come in a big awkward looking plastic case.

I know theres one for strats and one for tele's, but is there a difference in the sound at all or is it just the spacing for the different guitars?

Any help very much appreciated.

THe one that looks like an od school 'bucker is the old model of the HR, the plastic encased one is the new model. From my understanding, the only difference is the appearance.
