digital recorder

Hi, I'm needing a field recorder straight to SD card, for my work. I'll hook up at the most two XLR mics.

We don't need to hook up to computer because users will be recording voice over or video on location. Our old recorder Marantz PMD671 kicked the bucket and I don't know whats new and good.

I think these things fall in this category: https://www.sweetwater.com/shop/studio-recording/recorders/
What's your recommendation? thanks

Re: digital recorder

Sound Devices field recorders are stellar and great value for the Dollar. They are not Prosumer products like Zoom et al.

Re: digital recorder

I have the Zoom H4n. Quite pleased with it. Though the 4 XLR ins on the H6 is.....well, 2 more, "idn't it" (in my best Nigel Tufnel voice).

Re: digital recorder

I've been using the Zoom H6 at my job (I'm an editor/videographer) for the last three years, and up until recently, its held up very well. Started having issues with it lately, but haven't been able to nail down what's causing it.
