digitech bad monkey

Re: digitech bad monkey

I've owned a Bad Monkey, an Arion Tubulator and a Tubescreamer TS-5 converted back to TS-808 specs complete with the old style chip. I prefer the Tubulator out of the three. The TS-808 spec unit was the cleanest and probably the creamiest and smoothest of the bunch. The bad monkey was good, but not as good as the Tubulator. The Arion Tubulator is my hands down favorite of the bunch and was definitely the cheapest as well. It just has a "smokey" sound to it and it has a certain something the other two don't have. The TS-808 spec was my second choice. The bad monkey was nice, but not quite as good as the other two were.

Re: digitech bad monkey

Tubulator is :cool3:, but it is cheaply made. Then again, MF was selling them for $10 a year or so ago.

The Bad Monkey has a GREAT bang:buck ratio.

Re: digitech bad monkey

I got my bad monkey just for a lead boost. To me its like adding a gain knob to my already over the top high gain amp without geting muddy. I got mine used on ebay for 35 bucks and loves it.

Re: digitech bad monkey

:friday: :naughty: :bling: :14: and all that... Solid.... Can't say enough good things about it... It is 40 bucks... How could anyone afford NOT to own one?

ok these are a tube overedrive pedal, anyone heard one or had experience with them??

Re: digitech bad monkey

Have had a couple and still have one, but it's collecting dust. It's a good sounding TS type pedal for the most part, but it has a REALLY cheap buffer that I found to cut high end sparkle in my amp if in the circuit. I was surprised at how badly it sucked out the high end and not in a good way.

Re: digitech bad monkey

The Monkey is cool, no doubt. I like mine. But, it comes in a definitive 2nd-place next to another super-cheapo dirt/boost - the Dan-O Cool Cat Transparent OD.
