Digitech=Lifeless

Re: Digitech=Lifeless

I tried plugging in my old distortion, wah, and overdrive the other day, because I stopped using them when I got my tube amp. They really did sound like turd. No adjustments I made fixed them (but I dont like wah anyway, so it wasnt actually a 'problem'.

All overdrive and distortion pedals sound kinda.. meh.. to me. Phasers and Chorus' and Delays are good though.

Re: Digitech=Lifeless

I have a digitech and its ok but compared to my boogie it sucks!!!! I never have liked the chorusing in it. I have a boss gx-700 that is not in the best shape and even though the digitech has a tube in it i think the boss sounds better and its a digital modeling processor. I heard some samples of the digitech multi-chorus pedal and it did not sound good at all as for the bad monkey i have never heard it or the signiture pedals. but i am not thrilled in general with them after experiencing better things.

Re: Digitech=Lifeless

In general the real tone comes from the amp.

Except for Carl Martin, and the TS almost anything else sucks.

Digitech....I have the FX-86B lying, hate it as hell... :D

Re: Digitech=Lifeless

I have a Bad Monkey pedal. Of the OD pedals I've tried so far it's by far my favorite. The bass knob is a HUGE plus in my book. I use it thru my DRRI with a Hellatone 30 in a closed back cab and IMHO it sounds pretty damn good.

I also have a GNX-1. I bought it used for dirt cheap and I use that thru a Carvin Vintage 16 as my "living room" setup. For that application it's fine.

Re: Digitech=Lifeless

I'll stand by Digitechs 21XX series pre's but thats about it. But, they've got tubes.

I had a 2120. I don't care what tubes it had, it sounded fizzy and lifeless. I love the other effects, but the basic guitar sound was awful. I don't think anything that has tubes will sound better than anything that doesn't- the 2120 used preamp tubes anyway, and we know that power tubes are where that 'tube tone' comes from.
I traded it for a Roland GP-100 which sounded amazing. Light years difference.

Digi tech it back and get a refund?

DOD = Donny Osmond Distortion. :laugh2:

Digi tech it to the dumpster, or were you actually able to sell it? :laugh2:

Re: Digitech=Lifeless

I bought a bad monkey while my twin tube was getting fixed, I didnt want to spend a lot considering I already had the twin tube. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it sounded for a 40 dollar pedal. I played it in front of my deluxe ri and stompin on that thing when i had the amp breakin up sounded pretty good. I cant complain for the price I payed.

Re: Digitech=Lifeless

Digitech made soem greta stuff ,and many many bad stuff!
I like whammy ,and i use it alot.
But the rp200a was really bad.I mean even my small korg pandora is better than that unit. The only thing good on that unit was the whammy again!
But i didn't tried "everything" they made , so a blanket statement would be really wrong!
The soundclips of Bad monkey thru a jcm 800 was really awesome.
The Distortion Factory sounds really bad!
But again.Tone is Subjective!
