Dillon basses?

I know Dillon is "budget" brand. Any one have any definate negatives with them?? Here is why I ask.. Stopped at a local new hock shop yest.. They have a while Dillon "thunderbird" bass. Now I had one of the newer EPI Thunderbirds in black and really liked it, but had to sell it.
Id prefer black, BUT>>> here is where the Dillon REALLY impressed me.. The neck is VERY thin. Makes it easy for me to play. And it plays and sounds great. The EPI Tbird I had, I dont know if it was the longer scale or what, but I had a real hard time fretting cleanly too. I KNOW my weak fingers have almost all to do with that, but the Dillon is much easier to for me to fret cleanly.. Great shape, great price.. Updated with a Badass bridge too..

They also have a Epi explorer shaped bass too.. VEry tempting, but its A) more money, B) in worse shape, C) not as easy to play and D) in natural color. Korina...

Re: Dillon basses?

If it's a good deal then you should jump on it, especially since those are discontinued at the request of Gibson.

Re: Dillon basses?

300 plus hard case. guitar is set neck and pretty pristine shape.. AHA... was wondering how they were able to do that shape. So makes sense that there is a Cease/desist... no surprise.. I may lay it away.. Need it like I need a hole in my head, but as I said, neck is so thin (fretboard width) , its easy to play.. And looks cool

Re: Dillon basses?

They are good basses. I don't care for them because the necks are thin. But they sound good.

Re: Dillon basses?

I assume you mean Dillion. I have one of their small bodied semi-hollows. Really a very decent guitar and the fretwork is great on the one I have. Personally, I think some of the models are overpriced at what they usually ask for them, but a good deal is a good deal. I've seen some positives on their LP's and Phoenix (Firebird copy). Never played them though. If you like it and the price is right, buy it.

If you have teh ca$h,might snag it even cheaper.

no man, scraping pennies these days... have to lay it away if I get it.. minimum down. Cash is king, but Im a joker these days..

It is Dillion, they've made some excellent guitars and then some not so much but long as it is works for you

I don't bother with correcting other peoples spelling in general but in this case it's a brand name so I thought it fair game to make the distinction. As a side note ... Dillon is a manufacturer of reloading equipment. :-)

Re: Dillon basses?

I went back and was gonna lay it away. decided Id plug it up first. Bridge pickup isnt working. told the store owner. At first he didnt believe me. he plugged it up and sure enuff. Said he will fix it. Will go back in a day or so..

Got a Dillion RG-7 copy and it's killer! Played way better than the LTD H-207 I traded for it.

Re: Dillon basses?

you know fwiw the Epi's are pretty good, even the bolt necks, and they can be had cheap

Re: Dillon basses?

Yeah, I know.. Had one of the black Tbirds (the neck thru ones) a couple years back.. I liked it quite a bit. This one has a slimmer neck tho and is quite a bit cheaper...
