DiMarzio Area 67' opinions

K all,
Anyone try these?? Any opinions? I'm looking for like a Fender CS 69' tone without the hum,would these get me in the ballpark.
I had a strat w/ CS69s in it that I adored but when I went in the studio I couldn't track with it cause it had obnoxious 60 cycle hum in that studio and we couldn't find any flourescent lights etc... that were causeing it.So I'd like to prevent being in that situation again,by installimng noiseless pups

I wish I had clips to support my claim, but I do not. I can tell you that the Area 67 is about as close as you can get to the CS 69s in a hum free option. I cannot recommend them enough. There is a seller on ebay, Sigler music and he sells them new for $63 shipped shipped priority mail very promptly. They sound great clean and with gain, equally good tones from my Fender or Marshall tube amps.

How these are not more popular is beyond me but the Area 67 is very convincing. Try one in the neck position, I will be shocked if you are not pleased with the goal of copping the CS69 tone without the hum. Not identical but very close clean with the added ability to handle gain too if desired. I have tried all the noiseless single coils out there from Kinman, Bill Lawrence, Fender noiseless to Duncan stacks and in my opinion, the Dimarzio Area 67 trumps them all.

The reason you had 60 cycle hum is cuz you were playing pickups that have 60 cycle hum. You were playing 60 cycle hum pickups otherwise known as single-coils.

I just recently switched from using Dimarzio Area 61's for many years and put in some genuine Duncan single-coils. I personally felt I needed the change and I felt like I wanted to start experimenting with other pickups besides always being tied down to Dimarzio vertical humbuckers.

I also have an Area 67 and an Area 58 along with a Virtual Vintage 54 Pro just in case I decide to go back.

I personally think they'd be a great match, from what you've said.
They have a very glassy, (but not too bright,) scooped tone with a fat bottom.
They get just a beautiful clean sound and a soaring overdriven tone.

I love Duncan's pickups, but I think as far as "stacked" pickups, Dimarzio, Bill Lawrence and Kinman have just done incredible things, though they each have their own specialties and vibes.

I think the Duncan's are the best at capturing a true Fender tone, without noise. I personally love all the Area series, but the '67, especially in the middle and neck, is a beautiful thing.

Yea I understand that singles are prone to 60 cycle hum.My strat has a normal amount of 60 cycle hum and once in awhile it will buzz due to a flourescent light,transformer etc.../ etc....
But when I went to Nashville to record my bands album the studio we tracked in I switched my amp on and it was buzzing so loud it was actually as loud as the notes.
We tracked the album and did the overdubs in another studio and in the second studio the buzz was much less and there was certain spot I found to stand in to get the puyps quiet enough to overdub my leads on.
I prolly wasn't being clear on that,I understand singles are 60 cycle hum prone.
Notesfield thats encouranging I may buy a set of 67s when the taxes come in.
