Dimarzio Breed: Your thoughts?

You guys prolly don't remember, but I was gonna buy a JB for the bridge of my Ibby. Well, the guy who was gonna sell it backed off and I don't wanna buy it new, so I'm checking other options... and since the Breed seems to be a thicker, warmer JB, it could be the one for me. So what you think about it?

Feel free to say anything about this pup. :bigthumb:

I think it's going to do what you want it to do. I think you'll need the pickup's chunky bass with that floating whammy you have. And you're right, it *shouldn't* have that annoying upper midrange snarl.

I use the Breed neck in the bridge of my Ibanez SZ. To my ears it sounds nothing like a JB. The Breed neck is essentially a "10k PAF" with a modern edge. Very open sounding, with plenty of bass & mids to keep some thickness. Nice harmonics. Some people have described it as PAF Pro on steroids. I use it with a PAF Joe in the neck and they balance really well. I haven't heard the Breed bridge model, but it sounds like it might be what you're looking for, although I bet it sounds nothing like a JB either.

I have heard from my friend of good things with a Breed -Neck- on the bridge position too. So I guess a Breed Neck is a good try.
