I have Breeds in my Jem 7D ... they are not, Not, NOT vintage sounding!!
What's cool about 'em is that they throw your amp into total distortion without any effort, and you need sustain if you're gonna do all that FANCY STUFF on the gee-tar!!
Tonally, the pickup is just LOUD, no particular freq range pops out more than another, but it does chug a bit more than my other guitars, altho that might be the basswood body as much as the pickup, so I don't know about that. I find myself rolling the treble down a notch with the Jem, too, but once again: not sure if it's the basswood talkin' or the Breeds ...

There nice pups if you like alot of mids and bass, and no they dont sound anything like a vintage PAF.

Ah, amazing what a night's sleep can do! I think you're referring to: do I have the Breed in the neck and bridge position? The answer is YES, with a single coil in the middle voiced to sound like the other two.

I hear the duncan cc is like that as well?
I had the breed bridge in my ibanez and did not care for it! it had a lot of midrange and not much treble kind of like ther double whammy model dimarzio makes and i hate that model! it is all midrange and no treble or fat bass.yes-fan said:

The bridge pickup in the SG in my avatar to the left there is a Breed bridge (there is a Pearly Gates in the neck).
The Breed is not PAF-ish in that it is louder and there is no mid scoop.
The Breed to my ears is very similar to the JB in that the highs are rounded off and there is plenty of meat in the mids (the heart of the sound). It "pushes" kind of like the JB in terms of output.
I find it to be a very clear pickup. Very underrated. I like it a lot.

I have a Gibson SG copy and use a dimarzio pafpro in the bridge I want to swap out thr bridge pickup? maybe for a breed because I find the bridge slot extremely bright but i want to add more meat (bigger fuller ) sound do you recommend i balancing with the pafpro the tone chart makes it look like it has too much bass and mids without the treble so it seems like it would never cut thru in a band situation is that so?

Actually, My Jem cuts through great when we're playing live. I usually have to roll the treble down one notch, but other than that, it's great. The other guitarist in the band uses a Jackson RR5, and the tonal match between the guitars is very nice!
