dimarzio chopper vs pro track

Re: dimarzio chopper vs pro track

I've had a ProTrack neck / PATB1 bridge combo and a Chopper neck / PATB1 bridge combo in a Hamer Californian. The Chopper edged out the ProTrack for me because it was a little clearer (the ProTrack was muddy exactly, but it wasn't as articulate). So I'd go with the Chopper for shreddy stuff and ProTrack for more classic rock type-stuff.

I tried the Fast Track 1 in the neck (I take it you mean the Fast Track 1 not the Fast Track 2), and it was a good pickup imho.
The Chopper is a tad louder and hotter than the Fast Track 1, and would mostlikely get muddier sooner than the Fast Track 1. For the neck spot I would undoubtably prefer a Fast Track 1 over a Chopper.
The Fast Track 1 can keep up with a humbucker in the bridge spot volumewise, and still keeps enough true single coil vibe, both under gain as clean. The Cruiser is a good choice too, but it depends what you will combine it with. I would not go for a Chopper in the neck spot myself, kind of too hot I guess, but some players may like it.

Re: dimarzio chopper vs pro track

i do like fast track-1 but the output and power i didn't like it.
when i switch to the sh-2 the sound so little.

advice?

Heighten your Fast Track 1 and try lowering your bridge bucker a little too.
I am sure the Fast Track 1 is able to balance out with the SH2 volumewise, I had it balanced out with higher output pups than the SH2.
You have it wired correctly I take it? (not in parralell for example?)
When wired correctly, you should be able to balance the volume with playing around with pickup heights.

Re: dimarzio chopper vs pro track

i wired series.
and nothing wrong with it.
sh-2 in neck and fs-1 in middle.

Re: dimarzio chopper vs pro track

Had 2 choppers in neck/middle of a kramer and an X2N in the bridge. Like the choppers. didn't think they were too muddy in a floyded Kramer. Liked them.

Re: dimarzio chopper vs pro track

I don't know that anything really balances with the X2N! They were fine, IMO. Had the X2N single/parrellel/series wired. But really, it was a guitar built for LOUD. wasn't so concerned about "balance" always played the amp up with it....

Re: dimarzio chopper vs pro track

i meant when you switching from chopper to x2n. the sound dropped / could chopper handle it? :)

Re: dimarzio chopper vs pro track

I just got a Chopper,& have a Pro Track on the way,as well...

The Chopper's going on an Alder-bodied Hardtail Warmoth Strat w/ Rosewood.
The Pro Track's going in my old LH MIJ Fender,Maple neck.

Fast Track 2's @ both for the bridge.

I thought so. I didn't think it was anything different than say A Distortion /JB to a 59 neck
