Dimarzio Chopper - what's the full-size equivalent?

Heyas. My buggy's got an Orville LP that he wants to replace the pickups in, and we're both in love with the insane amount of harmonics and generally beautiful tone of the Dimarzio Chopper that I bought from Dracoaran and is currently happily living in the bridge of my strat. Anyone got any suggestions for a full-size LP-spaced humbucker that would sound about the same?

Or alternately, has anyone ever experimented with putting Strat pickups in a Les Paul?

Bill Lawrence L450 (aka L600 series now). A full size double coil, but with a rich single coil like tone, attack, and harmonics, up to PAF strength output. The lower output (PAF or less) L500 types will also get you in to this ball park.

Awesome to hear the chopper sounds great...thats one pickup i really wanna get in a strat bridge one day :27:

Not sure about a duncan equivalent though, thats like asking how you can get a banana from a chestnut tree! If he wants great clear but still full rich tones id say check out the screamin demon off the top of my head...or just go buy a JB and get some guarunteed harmonics ;)

Well, the PAF Pro has similar output and EQ curve. But seeing how it is going into a Les Paul, it's not gonna sound the same at all. You're gonna need a pickup with a very tight low end, a lot of spark, and recessed low mids.

EJ Custom perhaps?.

The attack will still be different due to the scale length.

Would the chopper be fuller, bigger, and mroe bad ass than the JB Jr or Lil 59?

Re: Dimarzio Chopper - what's the full-size equivalent?

I have two choppers in the neck/mid of a Kramer. X2N in the bridge! MWAHHHAHAHHAAHAHAHA!!!

This is one of those "Duncan doesn't do pups like that" things. The chopppers are bass/mid pups and Seymour really does bass/treble pups.

But let's get wild. Why not put TWO choppers together in humbucker slot?

DM used to have a pup called the Multibucker. It was a chopper and a fast track 1 together. You could run either one, or both as a full size HBer. I have not seen it in the DM cataloge for a few years now. Maybe you could find one used.
