DiMarzio Chopper

Replaced my Dmz Virtual Solo with a Chopper. My goal was to get a bit more output and fullness out of my Strat's bridge position without losing the trebly bite, and without making it sound like a full blown humbucker. Goal achieved!!! You should also know that I kept my 250k volume pot (no tone pot connected). If you want something even thicker that will sound more like a PAF, the DMZ Pro Track would be good (just be sure you use a 500k volume pot).

Re: DiMarzio Chopper

I had no idea you were doing this, but I would have approved. I really like the Chopper. Pro Track, IMO, is a typical stacked Humbucker.

I can use a 500k w/ the Chopper. Either way. Matter of taste.

I can't help but think of Arnold Schwarzenegger while reading this thread.

Re: DiMarzio Chopper

In The Premier Guitar Magazine", there is an Article about modding your Tele Squire with a D-Chopper on the bridge, where you can get up to about 4 different
tone or sound , I can imagine in a Strat, the combinations will be much greater !

Re: DiMarzio Chopper

What is the difference in the Chopper versus the Virtual solo pup?
As described in the OP, it's a little louder (hotter) and a bit fuller sounding (more low mids?) than the Virtual Solo, while still retaining the trebly bite (I didn't want to lose that!).

Re: DiMarzio Chopper

All +1's on The Chopper. I use it in the bridge position on a Tele and two of my Strats. I get good sustain and nice classic rock tones out of all of them.
