Dimarzio/IBZ Pickups

They say the pup's are made in their New York Factory with the others so it seems they're not a duncan designed type of pups but dimarzio's especially made for ibanez. My question is how does the bridge one sound like? they say it's a high-output cross between a steve morse bridge (dp200) and a Super Distortion (dp100).

Ps: I haven't had any experience with either dimarzio pup's that they say sound like it so hence my thread.

Re: Dimarzio/IBZ Pickups

You mean the newer ones on the high end current Ibanezes, or the older series? The older (late 80's, early 90's) ones were the F1, F2, F3, and F4. The older "non-F" one was an F1, IIRC. They weren't EXACT copies, but the F1 was similar to a Breed, the F2 similar to a Tone Zone, and I forget the others. I like these pickups, and still use an F1 in one of my axes.

Wouldn't it be cool if Ibanez guitars came with "Seymour Duncan/IBZ" pickups?

Just hypothetically speaking, of course...

Is this still on the web? I went looking for this after DiMarzio's latest site revamp and couldn't find it. It also said the Yamaha Pacifica humbuckers were similar to a Steve's Special...

Any guitar that comes with Duncans is cool, save you $$$ on buying them afterwards

I guess I'm the only one who noticed that Evan has said this TWICE!!!! My guess is that SD equipped Ibanezes are on the way!

Re: Dimarzio/IBZ Pickups

Interesting! I wonder if that means Vai and Satriani and everyone else playing an Ibanez will soon be endorsing Duncan equiped versions of thier namesake guitars? I hope so!

Doesn't Satriani use Pearly Gates in one of his guitars?

Never been that crazy about Dimarzio pickups...they've got this New York accent that kinda bugs me! :laugh2:

it is IMHO that since they were made specifically for the ibanez that they are not as good, by this i mean why did they not just slap in a super D and a super II in the neck and bridge and a hs-2 in the mid?
what dimarzio's existing models were not GOOD ENOUGH?

I'll see what I can do...

get some duncan designeds over to them so they can ditch their stock pups and the quality will jump immensly! not to mention real blown duncans on their prestige series, allthough i couldnt care less untill they ditch the ultra thin necks

yea, satch has a set or pearlies in one of his gigging guitars. or had. i think it got stolen
