I've been browsing musiciansfriend.com for pups and found this interesting thing:

They call it DiMarzio Multibucker, which is the brotherhood of Chopper & Fast Track single coils in a size of a standard humbucker! The lovely thing is that both are humbucking, hum-free coils! Chopper is an real humbucker while Fast Track is a single coil sounded! ...must be one hell of a versitile busta!

Did anyone have or try this?

Re: DiMarzio Multibucker Busta!

I read about this pup years ago. It was released at the same time when the Chopper was released. I remmber seein it in the Guitar Byers guide... must have been around 1997-1998.
I have spoken abouth this pup beforein the forum....Infact I was thinking of a lil JB 59 multibuker

Re: DiMarzio Multibucker Busta!

Actually, Dimarzio actually takes this pickup a step further. They'll match ANY two blade pickups you want and put them in there.

Considering they´ve been custom-order only for a few years i would expect at LEAST that amount of service ;)

I don't think they have a custom shop at all, but they'll do any color any spacing mix/match type stuff you want. I guess it's more along the lines of Duncans Shop Floor Custom options I guess.

I wish they had a legit custom shop......I'd like to tweak one or two of their models.

Re: DiMarzio Multibucker Busta!

Can you imagine two SSL-3's put together like this? That'ld be what . . . around 32.8k. Add the dial-a-split option and you have the Stag Mag from hell!

Re: DiMarzio Multibucker Busta!

2 hotrails... :32:
Or 2 fast track 2.
Or... a Coolrails and vintage rails together.

Re: DiMarzio Multibucker Busta!

How do the pickups behave in this case? Do the outputs add up?
If so, Cool + Vintage would be a nice combo... enough output for high gain stuff, but easily splittable for anything less demanding... rock on coolrails, bluesy or funky stuff on the vintage...

Re: DiMarzio Multibucker Busta!

I would imagine that you'ld want to connect them with a series/parallel option. In parallel, it would be just like two pups installed as normal. In series, I'm guessing you'ld have a pretty good boost in output, with a corresponding loss of brightness.

Hard to say how the magnetic field interaction would affect things.

HMMMM... Anyone have 2 ssl-3s for sale??? 32.8k + EMG afterburner = Maybe finally enough output... :headbang:

flip the mags in one, put a big ceramic (or 3) under them...... Make the Invader look like a plastic Army-Man :firedevil:headbang:

Re: DiMarzio Multibucker Busta!

Alright, who's doing the 'Seymour, we want a 40K output pickup or else we'll buy DiMarzio' thread?

Re: DiMarzio Multibucker Busta!

So? Did anyone try it?

If used for the neck, what will balance it in the bridge?
Does it have 4 conductor or 8?!?!?!?!?! :scratchch:

BTW, the Fast Track coil is version one or two?

Re: DiMarzio Multibucker Busta!

Here is what Steve of DiMarzio wrote:

The Multibucker is a 4-conductor pickup. It consists of a Fast Track 1 and a Chopper installed on a humbucker baseplate. The wiring is the same as for all of our standard humbuckers. It should sound OK in your guitar, and would be best used in the bridge position. Either the Breed neck model or Air Norton would be good in the neck position.

Yeah, my guitar is an all-koa Carvin DC127T (as everybody know) :smack:
