Dimarzio Multibucker - in my Satriani

Hey guys...

Tell me if I am wrong here.

Is the purpose of the Multibucker to be able to have two different single coils or two different stacked single coils in the bridge of a guitar? So I could have a Dimarzio Tone Zone S and a PAF style stacked single coil in the other slot, and I could essentially have two different bridge humbuckers at my hands?

I am looking to beef up my Satrianis tone but also not lose the PAF style voicing of the FRED. Could I put a Tone Zone and some other sort of PAF style designed stacked single coil in the bridge and switch back and forth?

Would I need any routing done to my guitar?

The Multibucker is 3 pickups- I forget what 2 single coil size pickups are in there, but when they're put in series it's described as sounding like the Megadrive, which sounds similar to the Steve's Special

The Multibucker is 2 single coil sized humbuckers that use side by side coils, not stacked coils. It's the Fast Track 1 and the Chopper in one pickup. And, as jmh151 said, using all 4 coils together gives the pickup another different tone.

So with all 4 coils in action, what is the tone/output comparative to?

I have a TZ in my ESP Mirage Custom and I'm looking into switching it out for something else, that's unique. The TZ is too thick and dark for an Alder body IMO and I loose definition on the G string and higher.

The stock configuration is a Chopper and a FT1, with a combined output about like that of a Tone Zone, although the tone is different. But they will make them with any combination of their blade pickups - I have one with an FT1 and a Cruiser bridge, I've seen one with a Tone Zone S and a Pro Track, etc.

They'll also make them with nickel, rather than black blades. Very cool looking.

So can i still do my original idea? Have a semi high out put and vintage output and then evn combine them?

Yep. It'll take some elaborate switching (probably need to add either a toggle or a pair of push-pulls).
