Despite the $60 up-charge for a swirled metal fishnet cover to help hide those ugly sun-faded yel...I mean, highly sought-after and thoroughly patented "double cream" bobbins...I'm totally GAS'ing for these!
I just watched a couple clips of her demonstrating these pickups. When it comes to rock and metal, she and I are much alike. I like a lot of bite and edge to my sound and so does she. More scream than yell, as it were.
She wanted a less-hot Evolution with the tightness of the D-Activator. I'm picking up what this woman is laying down (having owned both Evo's and still having D-Activators in one guitar)!
She's been playing Gravity Storms nearly exclusively for the past few years, so this should be an interesting mix of qualities.
It's too early to know for sure, but I can see this being a dream pickup for the half of me that leans heavily toward metal, rock and even progressive...ha ha!
Now, does anyone have a 40% off code for any of the sites selling these?![]()

I too have really liked what I’ve heard from these pickups. And I really dig Nita’s tone. I’m completely gassing for this pickup but I can’t do the pricing.
And I’d much rather get this pickup without that cover on it.
I wrote DiMarzio earlier to see if there was any way to get these in standard Black without the covers.
You should do the same! If they see a demand, maybe they'll create the opportunity for us

That's essentially what their response to me said, also. They did throw in an extra tidbit about how, if I were to remove the covers, I would void the warranty...ha ha! Perhaps I'm not the first to inquire.
On the plus side, if everyone who's interested in a more traditional aesthetic takes 2 minutes to write DiMarzio, there's a chance they might oblige sooner rather than later
They really should have brought the pickup out in standard colors to start and offered something like 1000 of the special "Black and Blonde" aesthetic as a numbered "limited edition" with Nita's signature on them.
As a last ditch effort, I contacted a couple major DiMarzio vendors and they all said there's currently no way to special order the pickup any other way. Shame.
What to do? What to do?
At that excessive price point, I could reach out to MJ and have her wind me something REALLY special! Ugh
DiMarzio got back to me this morning and said cream with covers is the only way they're available :/
Contacted a few sellers, none were willing to budge on price.
What the heck, DiMarzio?
I can buy a set of the pickups these are based on, in colors that suit my guitar, for the price of just one Nita Strauss "Pandemonium"!
She's a cool chick and I'd love to support her, but charging more for her stuff than the Petrucci, Vai and Satriani models? Makes no sense...
So, who's going to be the first guinea pig?
I guess when sales stall after the small batch of fanboys get their fill on the initial run, DiMarzio will get the point
Maybe, but it doesn't seem as if he's thinking very clearly about it.unfortunately Larry dimarzio only thinks of money and profit
