As much as I hate upcharges for stuff. Im sure they are trying to keep the "signature" pickups signature and selling them as the artist designed, (or at least promotes). Do they do this with their other pickups that have the etched covers and such? Or are they optional on those?
They are cool looking, but not worth the up charge to me.
I’m not 100% positive but I think there are a couple of other pickups with covers that get sold that way too. Of course I can’t remember the names of them
Exactly, especially when spending $140 for a single pickup!![]()
Yep, DiMarzio's "take it or leave it" series...

This is as bad as what Duncan tried to pull with the Gus G Signature pickups. Remember those? Arguably Duncan's best sounding actives (in my opinion), but who wants that gawdy logo all over the top?

I like Nita too. In one video I remember she used too much reverb with delay through a Blackstar rig but that's not always the case though. As for her pickups, I dig the way they look with the covers and think they'd look and sound good in my RG2570 finished in Vital Silver
Unfortunately they (and the Velorum, Dark Matter, Sonic X) are quite pricey because of those fancy/cool covers. Think I'll send DiMarzio an email requesting exposed bobbins as well.
I emailed them a couple of months ago about that. They told me they only come one way....
Like I posted earlier.
People who actually want those covers would be fine paying $149-$159. (it's a small group, but the covers are cool and intricate if they're "your thing")
People who want that sig pickup in plain black open-coil would do $99.
IMO they would make more total profit for themselves and the artist if they would offer the artist models both ways at these specific price-points.
