Dimarzio Red Velvet and Fs-1

Anyone ever try these pups. BTW why is Duncan's Twangbanger more expensive than Dimarzio's Red Velvet.

I've heard good reviews about the FS-1. The Twangbanger is more expensive because of the copper baseplate on the bottom, the attention to detail, and the way they're wound/manufactured. All Duncan pickups are made in the US, and I've been lead to believe that very few of the DiMarzio pickups are.

i have a fs1 and its a nice pup, as far as i know made in usa. ive used a red velvet and it was ok, a little to bright in the wrong way.
i LOVE the twangbanger. i love it so much i have a set of antiquitys and a set of antiquity II's just sitting there doing nothing cause i dont want to take it out

jeremy, could you tell me a little bit more about the fs-1 and compare it to the twangbanger. Btw why do you have those antiquity's sittin around, what do you have paired with the tbanger (alnico 2 pro)?

Dimarzios are made in NY as I was last told by them.

I have a Red Velvet in the neck of one of my Strats. It sounds great. It was a keeper and has been in there for years.

The "brightness" that Jeremy mentioned works perfectly in the neck. I have a DiMarzio SDS-1 in the bridge of that guitar (also a keeper, big time; has been in there for years) and since it is so warm and loud, it needs a more powerful neck pickup (with some more mids) to balance the guitar out. The Red Velvet sounds great in that application. I did not find a Duncan that fit this particular purpose.

For what it is worth, I use a Fender Texas Special (neck model) in the MIDDLE position of this same strat. The guitar sounds great and anytime I have ever recorded with it the engineer remarked on the tone and how well it sat in the mix.

Oh yea, DiMarzios are made at the DiMArzio factory in Staten Island NY just like the Duncans are made at the Seymour Duncan factory in CA. How do these rumours get started.......

I would also be very interested in a comparison of the FS-1 with the Twangbanger.
