Have you tried to turn the pickup so that the screw bobbin is facing the bridge and slugs to toward the neck?? I have them set that way on my wolfie special and like them that way. (I turned it that way to keep the stock look aliegnment. ) Of course a Wolfie Speical isn't an SG (used to own a 3 bucker SG many years ago, I was dumb and sold it), but it might take some of the boom away from the neck.

Cosmetically I don't care for that....I think a swap to an A4 is the cure again.I had the exact same problem with the 59N pickups and I've tryed the lowest dc resistance 59Ns I could use(Still boomy lows with the A5)....
