Dimebag

I have a dimebag in the bridge and a 59 in the neck. Like to pull the 59 and get something a little more hard rock/ metal in the neck...suggestions??

The guitar in question is an Ibanez RG421QM, quilted maple top on a mahogany body bolted to a maple Wizard III neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard.

WELCOME TO THA FORUM

I recommend to check out the Full Shred neck, Screamin Demon, and Whole Lotta Humbucker.

Look at the Distortion neck. It works exceptionally well with the Dime. Of course, Dime himself used a 59 bridge in the neck position, which will work well, too.

Sentient neck is another strong contender, for something hotter and better for leads, but still articulate and also great for clean sounds.

Lot of fun options. Original pickup (L500XL) that inspired the Dimebucker, either in high output but less bassy, or a lower output for better cleans (L500C, L500R, L500L in increasing output)...

Distortion or Black Winter neck for something that can do cleans, but has a great metal lead sound, too.

'59 bridge or Whole Lotta Humbucker neck are both great ideas for a beefier '59ish sound.

Screamin' Demon has a growl like a '59b, but better attack and less problematic low end in the neck, though may take some playing with height and pole screw adjustments gives even more flexibility to get lower mids to not be boomy, depending on the guitar. All screw poles can be really nice for sound adjustments in a neck pickup!

Dime used a 59 BRIDGE not a 59 neck in his guitars with the Lawrence XL 500 or Dime bucker and so did Nuno .
The sentient would also be a good choice.

I keep trying to come up with a pun involving dimebags, how they're stronger today than ever, how they don't make sound themselves, but nothing feels good. Maybe someone can follow up in my stead.
