dimebucker or distortion for judas priest

I'm getting into the tone of the screaming for vengeance and painkiller cd's. Which would do better for that? I'm keeping the 59 neck cause I rarely use the neck pu.

Re: dimebucker or distortion for judas priest

Seeing as Judas Priest is old British metal... wouldn't the Distortion be more appropriate?

The Dimebucker is suited for modern types of metal, which is what I've read so far...

Actually, there's a page about it here in the Vault...

Hope you find a solution!

The Distortion or a JB will get all over that tone.

The Dime is far more than a strictly modern metal pickup but it won't nail 80s metal like the Distortion.

How bout a dime in the bridge and a dd in the neck? Or 2 dime's would that nail 80's and modern metal? I wonder how 2 dimes would sound with the pu switch in the middle to get both going at once? I also like modern tones as well as 80's. I'm steering closer to the painkiller sound then the screaming for vengeance sound.

i think the dd is more what your looking for. never tryed either but i would try the dd first.

Re: dimebucker or distortion for judas priest

I would suggest the DD also.

Think about it this way. When 80's metal, like Judas Priest, was happening, the DD was there, the Dimbucker wasn't. 'Nuff said.

DD or JB, the DD scream's 80s METAL. The JB pulls it off well as dose the Deamon and Custom.
