Dimebucker vs SH6

hello..
i play havey.. extreme, death n power metal... i play both heavy rough riffs and those fast(melodic as well) solos...

im considering the best pickup for these playing styles..

its an alexi200 guitar.. it ahs got only one pickup only the bridge pu..

so i wanna change that stock pu to a SD..

just not sure which would b the best for my style...

also u may suggest me to install blackouts.. (but id rather stick to passive pu.s)

thakns

Re: Dimebucker vs SH6

What kind of amp do you use and what does your guitar sound like when played unplugged?

Re: Dimebucker vs SH6

i use my computers speakers.. ill buy a marshall amp after a few month.. (need to save more money hahha)..

when played unplugged? i dont really get u.. anyway. it sounds normal to me... (u gotta strum/press the fretboard REAL hard to sound it like an accoustic... if thats wat u wanna know?

Re: Dimebucker vs SH6

Does the guitar sound bright, dull, balanced? A pickup will sound diferent depending on how the guitar sounds when you strum it without it being plugged into anything. FWIW, the Dime is brighter than the Duncan Distortion. It has more sizzle in the highs, and has a scoop to the mids in comparison. There's also more bass (at least to my ears) in the Dime than the Distortion.

Re: Dimebucker vs SH6

no definitely not bright.. balalnced.. sort of a bit dull u could say but i guess its roughly balanced....so in a nutshell the dimebucker sounds more aggressive than the distortion?

Re: Dimebucker vs SH6

In that axe and for all out balls metal=DUNCAN DISTORTION.!
It is like a passive emg 81. I own both and play gore metal had the dime but tried the DD never looked back.

I would save money and buy the amp first, computer speakers will generally do you no favours. After you have the amp then decide on which pickup to buy.

Re: Dimebucker vs SH6

yeah dude. The pickup in your guitar is like how you 'fine tune' the tone you get with your amps and pedals. If you EQ everything to sound good thru a PC, odds are pretty good it will sound like anus through a real guitar amp.

Re: Dimebucker vs SH6

Definitely buy the amp first, or you´ll find yourself looking for the next new pickup as soon as you get it....

Re: Dimebucker vs SH6

rythm and lead = distortion. the distortion will do everything the dime will do, and more! its got the mids for soloing and the grind for rythm. plus, didn't Dime pretty much always use the neck pickup for solos?

Re: Dimebucker vs SH6

too bad i dont have a neck pu route ... n dont even wanna customize this guitar.. when ill have enough money ill get myself a michael amott tyrant dean... there uve got a michael amott signature bridge pickup.. (n the guitar has both the bridge n neck pus)..

right now with the alexi 200 the stock bridge pu sucks .. i hate that tone..so not my type.... anyway.. thanks ppl.. ill choose buy thedimebcuker..

Re: Dimebucker vs SH6

What's the point in buying an expensive pickup to play it through computer speakers?

Buy the amp first - you might even find you like the stock pickup once you play it through a decent amp.

Re: Dimebucker vs SH6

I was i your position a couple of months ago :(
Saved up money for a RS Guitarworks Vintage kit for my Gibson Les Paul Standard and bought myself a Peavey windsor studio all valve amp:)
So after that i can start looking in to new pickups.
I really recommend you to do the same, trust me you´ll be in a new tone universe with a great amp and some great electronics;)
