Dimebucker+X2N

So I have recently recieved a new guitar RGT42DX. It is a mahogony neck thru guitar.

I love everything about it except of the pup's.

I was thinking of putting an X2N in the bridge and a Dimebucker in the neck.

Anyone here knows how it will sound like? especially in the mid position.

Re: Dimebucker+X2N

the dimebucker probably wouldnt be a great choice for the neck, itd be really really hot. theres some discussion of putting a dimebucker in the neck here https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?t=113770

what kinda sound are you going for? by the pickup choice ill guess metal, but what kinda tone do you want? emphasis on highs, mids, lows, etc.?

Re: Dimebucker+X2N

It might sound kinda weird but I was them all.

I heard that the X2N is really bassy while the dimebucker is really trebbly so I figured if you put them on the same guitar...

Re: Dimebucker+X2N

I like messing with hot pickups. Putting a blistering hot ceramic magnet bridge pickup into the neck position is not considered "classy", but there is no rule against it. Actually, Kurt Cobain used to have some dual humbucker guitar with a pair of X2Ns in it. For the sake of being unique and defying tradition, I think it's a cool idea.

Re: Dimebucker+X2N

So how will a neck position Dimebucker will sound like? And how will it sound when combined with an X2N in the bridge?

Re: Dimebucker+X2N

This is what im tryig to find out. I already own a Dimebucker.....and the X2N is only 80 bucks. So for 80 bucks, and a 10 minute replacement of the Dimebucker into the neck......i can have a guitar that spits fire. If i wanted to spend alot of money...i would just buy Blackouts, or EMGS. My goal is to keep expenses down....yet Spit fire through my guitar.

Well, nice way to resurrect a thread from two years ago, but this wasn't the thread I was talking about when I said someone had recently tried a Dimebucker in the neck. ;) I can't help any more but there IS a thread out there somewhere, I do remember it!
