Discontinued Duncan? Old catelog?

Gudday all, I was wondering if there is a resource around for checking out old/discontinued Duncan pickups. One of my students has a Pearl branded MIJ LP copy with a megadrive in the bridge, and something else in the neck position.

The "something else" has the usual 6x2 rows of hex screws but it looks more like a humbucker sized P90 in that you can't see the coil bobbins (if that makes sense) due to a cover. I thought I saw something like that in a Duncan poster catelog back in 1988 or so but I could be mistaken. It's almost like a TV jones, but not quite.

Any ideas? I'll try and get a pic of it tomorrow (which would probably be more useful).

Dunno why you deleted that post Mark, you're actually pretty close to it. Although it's a full HB sized pickup, my first impression was that it was a P90.

If I´m understanding right it´s solid black or cream with silver hex screws?

I´ve definitely seen them before, I want to say Schaller but I just got out of bed, head´s not clear yet....

I realized that a dimarzio dlx has fillister poles, and not hex. Although the old ones might have had hex poles??

These are the pickups here. The bottom one is a Dimarzio Megadrive, but have no idea what the other one is.

it looks like a Dimarzio Super 2 to me---(i've got a couple of them laying around here that look like that). the original Super 2 you could see the bobbins, then they came out with that goofy cover, and they didn't sound as good IMO.

These look similar but with fillisters.
They're at my mate's shop on consignment.

BTW, your typing "accent" suggests you come from the land of OZ.
If your in Melbourne, a few of the forum lads catch up regularly.

Cheers, Will.

Lol, I was wondering how you worked that out - until I realized I started the thread with "Gudday". FWIW, I'm in Ballarat.

I'll take an amp with me and see how it sounds tomorrow. Taking a multimeter might be a good idea too.

Re: Discontinued Duncan? Old catelog?

That neck HB is the Schaller that Zerb was talking about. :) It is even mounted in a Schaller surround. Take a look at the baseplate and you will find six height adjustment screw holes from which to choose.

If you wait for long enough, I might remember the correct model name. More likely, however, is that Zerb will provide the answer.

EXTRA, EXTRA. I have just remembered that there was a matching, eight polepiece, bass guitar humbucker made by Schaller during the Eighties.
