Discretion being the better part of what it is

Chris of Arabia

Desert RATT
I have just decided that I don't have sufficient skills to deal with the issues on a Samick electro-acoustic I was asked to do a set-up on. Issues include:

1. Action that is sitting at around 3/16ths"
2. A truss rod that appears to do nothing, and rather oddly seems to have a left-hand thread
3. A nut where the slots are cut deeply enough already to leave the strings touching the 1st fret when held down at the 2nd
4. A saddle that's loose in its slot at the bridge
5. The saddle is a bit too tall, but not so high that I can shave it down far enough to get a reasonable action

The only skill I feel I can usefully use at the point is the ability to light a match... :angryfire

Think I'll hand it back and suggest he find someone else to attempt the work.

Probably a wise move.... Better than getting in over your head.

You could always have them send it to Astro :naughty:

I`m in Germany, if I can help let me know, shipping may however be a strong deterrent. However, I can also recommend our own Octavedoctor, http://www.edgeguitarservices.co.uk/. I trust his work just as well as (I assume) many here would trust mine. :)

Thanks Zerb, but I'm in Riyadh right now. Seriously though, it's not a good guitar and not worth spending money on. From what I can gather is was only around €120 when he bought it new. He's got it back now and is looking to invest his cash elsewhere - pointed him at Yamaha stuff for good bang for buck.
