Sorry if this isn't the appropriate forum, as it's a general tone question. I've been hunting for a rather specific distorted guitar tone for years, with some success. Unfortunately there's a fairly limited amount of gear I can test considering where I live, so advice is very welcome.

Toundra's self-titled debut album also has distorted tones that are carved from the same tree, but they're a bit darker and less screaming & powerful in my opinion.
Please name any piece of guitar gear that you think this tone is inherent to, be it amp, cabinet, pick-ups, pedal, strings, tonewood, combination of any of those, or just anything. I've been searching this tone for some time now, so a simple "turn up the mids and treble, strum hard" is not going to help, unfortunately. I've found it to be closest when playing from the 3rd and 4th strings, between frets 12 and 17 or so.
