Distortion and 59 with master volume?

Hi everyone

I was thinking of putting a Duncan Distrtion into the bridge of my Jackson js22 Monarkh and a 59 into the neck.

Will this work or will it become impossible to use both pickups together since one is much higher output then the other and there is only a master volume?

Sorry if that's a stupid question but it's the first time I change pickups so I'm a bit lost.

No you'll be fine. The neck position has much more freedom for the strings to vibrate so neck positions are naturally louder than their bridge or middle counterparts. By using a vintage output pickup like the 59, you'll be able to balance those two a lot easier than if you had two Distortion bridge pickups. You may even have precisely the opposite problem and find that your neck pickup is too loud. This can be solved by simply lowering the neck pickup in the ring. This is also why calibrated pickup sets have a neck pickup with a lower DCR than the bridge pickup.

Thanks for the answer.

But wouldn't lowering the pickup affect the sound to the worse when I would use the neck pickup only?

No, the kid is right. You'll end up putting those 2 pickups close to the same distance away from the strings. That will be a good combo.

You should have no problems with these 2. I know of several people that use this exact combo and love it.
