Distortion and JB winds

Hi!
I have conflicting information.
Jb ans Distortion has the same winds?
When writing to Duncan support I received an answer that they are different, and another time that they are very similar.
On the forum, people generally give similar answers.
I tried A5 with Distortion and it does't sound like JB.
I tried thick Ceramic wiith JB and doesn't sound like Distortion, more like jb on steroids.
I wonder if it's a coincidence because I hear differences even in two of the same humbuckers or are they actually different?

So to clarify, you asked the company that manufactures them if the winds were different on two occasions and both times they said the winds were different? And then you tested it yourself and they don't sound the same? What is the discussion to be had here?

Even if they're different winds, I don't think they're that far apart. At least not compared to how a JB vs. a Custom would be.

Thing is, companies are under no obligation to really reveal how things are different or the same. But historically, they have said they are different, and since they sound different (even with the same magnet), I believe them.

jb and custom are different wire, the jb and distortion i believe have the same wire
Yep. My point is even if they're not the same wind, there are going to be similarities if they're using the same wire gauge (and I assume isolation as well) and are close to the same DCR (site says same DCR exactly). I'm aware there are many ways they can alter the tone even if the DCR is the same, but even in stock form with the Distortion having its ceramic magnet and the JB with its A5, it's hard not to notice similarities. At least to my ears.

JMO.

Duncan's support answers were not entirely clear, he doesn't have to reveal secrets.

I myself am not sure about the differences, because to me each pickup sounds slightly different, even the same model.
I thought some people on this forum worked for Duncan.
I wouldn't want to look like a fool by buying a JB and changing the magnets to thick ceramic when it will be identical to the Distortion.
