Re: Distortion pedal

try a rocktron metal planet. lame name but it is tight with mids to cut through. a real cheap gem of a distortion pedal.

Re: Distortion pedal

The Metal Muff won't cut it for high gain thrash or death metal, it sounds HORRIBLE! It's loose and fuzzy and I have no idea why they market it as a "Metal" distortion, it's more of a fuzz. Look into an MI Audio Crunchbox.

Cheers,

Re: Distortion pedal

Hi SirJack

Long time no see...

How are you?

Hi mate . . .

. . . kinda busy these days, as i am NOT in SA any more, but in Galveston Texas !

I am trying to save and buy as much gear (pedals and amp) as possible, before i go home in October ! :beerchug: I am (if you did not know) currently working with Scott on a "custom" Edana (JTM45 clone) that is more Bassman than Marshall !

Problem is, i can not make enough money for the amount of stuff i buy every week . . .

. . . but that is live ;)

Cheers
JP

Re: Distortion pedal

dude check AMT pedals!

AMT pedals are awesome! I've got an Extreme III that I really love. It's like a Recto in a box!! Very clear sounding pedal whereby you can hear all the notes in a chord.

I also had a Landmine pedal for a little bit but just sold it. It's okay if you like a little fuzz in your distortion; though, I really had to crank the bass and keep the treble and mids very low in order to get a smooth distortion sound out of it. Much like the Death Metal pedal, it's got no gain control, but I'd say it's still even better than that one.

+1 for the Metal Planet
for thrash and deathmetal Id look into line6 Uber metal pedal too

Peace!

Re: Distortion pedal

I have a Line6 über Metal... And boy does it sound great.

It has one hell of a rhythm sound, its quite distinctive, and you can get from 80s metal to overthe top death metal from it.

Re: Distortion pedal

Save your money and get a good amp. After years of messing with distortion pedals and alot of cash, nothing comes close to a good tube amp with built in gain on tap!!!!!!!

Re: Distortion pedal

yeh dont spend 50 or 60 bucks now for something you can use , save up $1800-2000 then we can flame you over your choice of tube amps :alcoholic

Re: Distortion pedal

I have that. This is for my back up amp.

Rather than a backup amp maybe going with something like a POD?

I know that I loathe hauling a second amp to the gig. It's one of those things I just hate having to take space up with. But I know the one time I don't that it's going to be something I regret.

I toss the POD in and in case of emergency I dial in a decent tone and run it through the board. It takes up MUCH less space and is WAY more versatile.

Nothing...and I mean nothing....is going to make a Solid State amp sound the way you're really hoping it will.

It's only a powerblock which is tiny. I am not hoping to make it sound like a tube amp in fact it's a really decent SS amp and I just wanted to know a good Dist. to kick in front of it. I would normally just use it's internal gain but it's single channel.
