Ok , in my quest for amazing apartment tone :smoker: , I have decided to run a Distortion pedal in my DSL50's clean channel.

I need some suggestions, I liked thee Boss Ds-1 15 years ago :laugh2: , now I 'm not sure about any of them out there, But I have heard a bout the Various pro Co Rat pedlals and the MArshall Guvner Plus.

I need something to get me in the Dio, Dokken , Van Halen ball park. No Metal zone or anything like that .

Re: Distortion pedals

Get a DS-1 and send it to stratdeluxer97 to mod!!! Thats about as close as you can get to good cranked tube amp distortion in a pedal!!!! John does a hell of a job!! I usually hate pedals but, I was impressed with one that he modded.

Re: Distortion pedals

BOSS HM-2 for 80s style metal and dirt cheap, if you're only be going to using it in the bedroom
RAT 2 can get quite Marshall Hard Rock/Metal

Re: Distortion pedals

Every Rat I've ever tried clips REALLY bad on the attack, to the point where the volume drops for a second. It's like there a really sh*tty compressor running.

Re: Distortion pedals

Menatone King of the Britains, Lovepedal COT50, Foxrox ZIM, Tubescreamer TS-9dx, Old Marshall The Guvnor not Guvnor II.
And shameless selfpromotion CM Plexitone...well you asked;)

was this with single coils?

Re: Distortion pedals

only RAT that's ever done that to me is the Keeley RAT when uses with low output/bassy pickups

For the record, this is 3 different Rats that've done this.

They've done that with my old stock Fender Mustang, guitars with Jackson 'buckers, Duncan Invader, JB, Custom, CC, and Screamin' Demon, EMG 81, DiMarzio Steve's Special, Super D, Evo, Super 2, and Air Norton.

Also, it can be old batteries, new batteries, or AC powered.

Am I just hitting the strings too hard? :)

Re: Distortion pedals

I know it's not really a distortion pedal, but I get amazing over drive and full on saturation at pretty much any volume by running my Mesa/Boogie V-Twin into my Black Face Bassman head.
