Re: Distortion PUP Discussion...not a Which pup do I need thread
Good discussion folks..ya know I kinda forgot about this thread...ooops
I dropped the 500T a bit and am now able to raise the gain up to about 8 w/out the pup crappin out and the tone is even better. Xeromus is on the money there.
Matt, sorry for the delay. Glad it worked out for ya. Honestly I don' see the prob folks have with the 500T as a rock/metal pickup. That said, with amp gain not so high, I can get a hella Billy Gibbons type tone outta it  I'm still debating whether to put a DiMarzio SuperD or a Duncan Custom in it or not. Sounds damn good as is.
As for the TS..not in front of this amp I have not. But I'm considering it as an option. One thing about the Rivera Chubsters lead boost is that it boosts bass and treble frequencies as well as gain..with most of my guitars it sounds great, but with the 500T it' a bit too much gain and gets mushy. I think a TS could give me the slight gain/sustain boost I need without getting over the top. I'm sure it would sound incredible through this particular amp/guitar combo, as its very similar to setups I've had in the past.
