Distortion w/ 250k pot

Anyone tried this or a similar bright pickup with this pot?

Will it change the characteristic of the pickup or just warm it up?

I keep hearin' people say they did this to thier pickups and love them. I use the Distortion pickup and the grind is great, but when I record it, it's a bit too bright and without rounding it off at the board, I'd like to keep the grind, but just round the top end off a bit with the 250k installment.

ANY info regarding this process is greatly appreciated.

Forever in your debt (or until I decide what to do), JD :)

Re: Distortion w/ 250k pot

I run my Distortion with a 250k pot. In fact, I run most of my humbuckers with 250's. My situation is similar to yours. I run into a mixer, then into an SS amp and into studio monitors that have tweeters and midrange. So the little extra "smoothness" is desirable to me.

Re: Distortion w/ 250k pot

So, the grind stays and the highs get smoothed out?

That would be desirable. I'll probably have a guy I know install this, just curious though, what is involved in the process?

Thanks for help man, dig it.

Re: Distortion w/ 250k pot

Also, to throw this out to everyone, are the highs now fuzzy in 250k or still clear just smooth.

I guess since Seymour Duncan himself has done this I shouldn't be worried, but tone is very sensitive thing, will it de-Distortionize the Distortion?

Tone Madness :crying:!
