the david gilmour strat was very expensive. there's no doubt you could make a warmoth strat for less than that. but if someone just wants a black strat with better pickups, getting an american standard and the pickups of your choice is usually cheaper than having warmoth make one. plus you can play a few and choose your favorite.

im not bashing you or anti warmoth in any way. i have some warmoth stuff and have other parts guitars that i love. its a fun way to make guitars, but i wouldn't say its the most cost effective.

I don't think there's competition per se with big name manu's, because Warmoth is 100% custom build.

And because the resale on your Warmoth is going to be much lower than a big name brand guitar of similar quality.



Warmoth has excellent stuff; I have 2 guitars with their parts and the quality is excellent.

Also, Warmoth sometimes contracts with big name manufacturers to pump out necks and bodies for them.

PRO TIP: Don't bother with the Unofficial Warmoth forum, unless you enjoy cliquey boards ran by clueless 15 year old smartasses.

As for resale, have received that message loud and clear since I first read and then asked about Warmoth here. I haven't designed or built a guitar that I've intended to resell.....definitely not my purpose and I'm fortunate I can afford to build a few without having to first sell any guitars in order to afford my next one should I design/buy another one. Definitely do want to design a great Warmoth guitar for the SLUG pups and a few more I still haven't found guitar homes for (still have some great SD pups just waiting to be played!). Thinking of Mahogany body with maple top, and mahogany neck with black ebony top - on a Warmoth Regal body (possibly a Royale).

Thanks again...and my experience with Warmoth and being able to customize and design my own guitar has been a great alternative to the very expensive top shelf guitars that come with a hefty price tag! I first learned of 2Tek hardtail bridges on Warmoth and haven't played a guitar with a sound I've enjoyed better than what seems to come in part from a great bridge like 2Tek.
